The Billing Senior Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the billing operations of the company. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in billing management, a strong understanding of billing processes and regulations, and exceptional leadership skills. The Billing Senior Manager will lead a team of billing analysts and senior analysts, drive process improvements, ensure compliance with billing standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize billing efficiency and accuracy.
You’ll be responsible for all invoicing including duties associated with the monthly financial close, maintaining a strong internal control environment and maintaining the accuracy of orders to invoices generated. In this highly cross-functional role, you will partner with Global Sales teams, Collections, Revenue accounting, Finance, Operations, Treasury and IT teams in the course of the day-to-day billing to customers, evaluation and aligning of credit limits with customer contracts, designing the IT systems changes and UAT approaches, as well as be responsible for key management estimates. This position requires excellent analytical skills, ERP system skills, advanced Excel skills, experience in team management and the ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This role will be based in Bangalore, India. This position will require working the US Shift ( 6 PM to 3 AM IST).
What you'll do
- Lead and manage a team of billing specialists, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance, productivity, and professional development.
- Set clear objectives, establish performance metrics, and conduct regular performance evaluations to drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement efficient billing processes, workflows, and procedures to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency in the billing cycle.
- Identify opportunities for automation, system enhancements, and process improvements to streamline billing operations and reduce manual effort.
- Oversee billing software or systems, ensuring proper configuration, maintenance, and optimization to support accurate and efficient billing processes.
- Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to address technical issues, implement upgrades, and enhance system functionality as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for billing inquiries and escalations from customers or clients, resolving issues promptly and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to address billing-related concerns and improve overall customer satisfaction.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on billing performance, metrics, and insights for management review and decision-making.
- Collaborate with Finance, Deal Desk, Sales, IT and our customers to ensure accurate and timely invoicing
This role requires
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in billing management roles, with a proven track record of success in leading billing teams and driving process improvements.
- In-depth knowledge of billing principles, practices, and regulations, with a strong understanding of compliance requirements (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, GDPR).
- Proficiency in using billing software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to optimize billing operations.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus points if you have
- Experience with consumption/usage-based billing
- Experience with Salesforce, Zuora, NetSuite, Billing Platform etc
- Experience with implementation of new billing tools/transitions
