About the Role
Ramp is looking for a Technical Accounting Lead to join our Accounting team. In this role, you will report to the Controller and work closely with other members of the Accounting and Finance teams. You will draft and update accounting policies, US GAAP accounting standard adoption, research and documentation of significant and non-routine transactions, and partner with all aspects of the business to ensure accurate and timely technical accounting reviews of proposed transactions and draft contracts. You will support the Accounting team as needed with the month-end close process, including reviewing journal entries and related account reconciliations. The Manager will work on multiple projects at once, with a focus on technical accounting projects, and be responsible for creating and maintaining effective communication with multiple business partners.
What You’ll Do
Drive technical accounting policies and reporting for all products and services offered by Ramp
Lead technical accounting discussions with auditors, advisors, and internal stakeholders to support product launches, preparation and review of accounting positions, policies and financial statements
Research the accounting and disclosure requirements of proposed accounting standards and transactions with external parties, considering the relevant accounting literature and the effect of the transaction on the company’s financial documents
Update and maintain internal control policies and procedures and provide supporting documentation to auditors regarding completion of control procedures
Assist with month-end close activities, including the preparation and/or review of accounting reconciliations and transactions
Mentor and coach team members, collaborate with Engineering and Data teams to create automated reports to improve the close process
Assist in aspects of tax compliance and tax reporting for sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax
Work closely with our tax consultants to ensure accurate and timely filings
Other ad-hoc accounting-related tasks and requests
What You Need
Active CPA license required
5+ years of external audit, accounting, and/or advisory at Big 4 - Manager level
Experienced working in a fast paced growing private or public company in Fintech
Must be a highly organized, meticulous self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
Education or comparable professional experience in Accounting or related field
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including communication of accounting policies and procedures to other team members
Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to effectively address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate, and proactively identify and prevent potential problems
Performs well under pressure and effectively balance multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities
Experience working with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proven strong technical writer
