As our Head of Security, you will define and execute BioRender’s overall security strategy, encompassing both corporate and product security. You’ll lead a small team (3–4 people) while remaining hands-on in designing and implementing security initiatives. Your focus will be on establishing and maintaining a strong security posture, both internally and externally, meeting customer compliance requirements, and protecting company data against cyber threats.

What you'll be doing:
Security Strategy & Roadmap: Own the company’s overall security strategy in alignment with product, customer, and industry needs.
Information Security Programs: Develop and implement comprehensive policies and systems to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information.
Compliance & Regulations: Ensure cybersecurity policies and practices comply with laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering and product teams to align technology infrastructure with strategic goals, emphasizing efficiency, value creation, and data security.
Customer Alignment: Work with product leadership and customer-facing teams to understand security requirements and plan for future needs.
Security Features: Determine and prioritize security features for the product to meet customer demands and best practices.
Budget Management: Develop and manage the Security budget in line with BioRender’s strategic objectives.
Audits & Risk Assessments: Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and business continuity planning; oversee required recertifications.
AI Security: Oversee security measures for AI systems, protecting against threats specific to artificial intelligence.
What we value:
Preferred Experience: Strong preference for candidates with an enterprise SaaS background and experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
Hands-On Mentality: Proven ability to work closely with security ICs to design, implement, and manage security initiatives.
Technical Depth: Familiarity with full-stack/single-page web applications and the ability to contribute to security-focused design discussions.
AI/Machine Learning Security: Up to date on modern approaches to securing AI/ML-backed product features, including legal/terms considerations and system architecture.
Team Leadership: Prior experience owning an end-to-end security function for a smaller company is a plus.
Security Frameworks & Compliance: Extensive knowledge of security frameworks and a practical approach to balancing cybersecurity and compliance.
Industry Knowledge: Awareness of current IT trends, cybersecurity threats, and risk management practices.
Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a team and translate complex security concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
